I spent one semester at GGC and I knew I was where I was meant to be, but I also knew that something was missing – an academic discipline that I could fit in to. As a Latin-American female, I knew I had to try harder in order to do better. So, although the idea of seeking a degree in English was as fresh in my mind as it had been in high school, I decided to major in Business Administration. At the time, I felt as though I needed to major in something that promised me a stable income at the end of my undergraduate career. About three semesters into Business Administration, however, I decided that I wanted to try Early Childhood Education instead, which is just about the most random decision I’ve ever made in my life. After realizing that the attempt at teaching 1st and 3rd graders was taking a mental, physical, and emotional toll on me, I decided to take a leap of faith into the English discipline at GGC.
